Disney's "Pinocchio" - Give a Little Whistle

"Give a Little Whistle" is a song featured in Walt Disney's 1940 adaptation of Pinocchio, sung by Jiminy Cricket and Pinocchio.

The song is sung when Jiminy tries to explain the matters of being a conscience to Pinocchio, and tells him if he needs him he can call on him. The song ends with Pinocchio accidentally stepping on empty paint buckets and knocking objects off the the worktable with Jiminy yells him to watch out, as he falls off the worktable and waking Geppetto, Figaro and Cleo up in the process. It was also included in Disney's Sing-Along Songs: Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah and Disney's Sing-Along Songs: Collection of All-Time Favorites: The Early Years.

The song is also featured in the Once Upon a Time episode "Pilot", being whistled by Archie.

Lyrics[]

Jiminy: When you get in trouble and
You don't know right from wrong,
Give a little whistle!
Give a little whistle!
When you meet temptations and
The urge is very strong
Give a little whistle!
Give a little whistle!
Not just a little squeak,
pucker up and blow
And when your whistle's weak, yell.

Pinocchio/Fred: Jiminy Cricket?

Jiminy: Take the straight and
narrow path and if you start to slide
Give a little whistle!
Give a little whistle!
And always let your conscience be your guide

(Instrumental bridge)

Jiminy: Take the straight and narrow path
And if your start to slide
Give a little whistle!
Give a little whistle!
And always let your conscience be your guide.

Pinocchio/Fred: And always let your conscience be your guide!

Jiminy: Give yourself a cross-examination.
Are you just about to make a big mistake?
Well, here's a way to save the situation.
So learn it now, for heaven's sake,
Give your better self a break.
